The Day of Action will provide information and tools for sustainable change for three specific streams:
Stream One: Education 'Seeds of Change'
For school students and teachers, involving projects culminating in an event at St Lawrence's College in South Bank. This stream has been identified as a signature event in the Department of Education and Training's Year of Environmental Sustainability for Queensland schools. It will be webcast to schools in our Pacific regions and Earth Charter Affiliates - Kids teaching Kids, teacher professional development, and displays of initiatives in Sustainability. Learn more...
Stream Two: Individuals and Communities 'Living and Breathing Communities'
This will be a communities stream to share stories and initiatives in creating sustainable communities and neighbourhoods and will involve presentations and forums by NGOs, Brisbane City Council, multicultural associations and multi-faith communities. Learn more...
Stream Three: Corporate and global governance 'Harvesting the Benefits'
This stream will be a forum to inspire and motivate business leaders and managers toward social responsibility in the face of global challenges confronting organisations. The forum has been organised with the support and guidance of the Asia Pacific Centre of Sustainable Enterprise and the UN Global Compact Initiative. Learn more...
The multi-venue approach will allow individuals to tell their experiences and highlight local initiatives to foster action and inspire leadership for business and government representatives, educators, students and individual members of the community to implement sustainable practices in their organisations and communities. The Day of Action will conclude with a festival concert at Musgrave Park, South Brisbane - for all delegates to celebrate and be entertained by Brisbane ethnic communities including a multicultural concert.
